Below are the most recent news posts with the ‘kickstarter 2017’ tag in.
- The Pelegian, Space Critters, Kickstarter (1/5/2018)
It’s January 2018 & we are currently running a new Kickstarter to expand our Space Critters range. The core miniature is the Pelegian Sapper, Jhorka.
As well as this there are several current Stretch Goals in the pipeline ready to become a part of the rewards pool for those that pledge to the campaign. With many other ideas waiting in the wings to expand on the campaign.
The campaign also contains one very ambitious stretch goal with a £10,000 target that will see our first full transport size vehicle being produced for the Space Critters range that would be at home in most Sci-fi armies too. The Corydon. Though this is a bit of a Hail Mary it also gives an idea as to where we want to take the range in the future.
Stretch goals currently include a heavy support automaton that follows Jhorka around on his various assignments to offer bombardment, shelter from bombardment, and storage for alternative weapons load-outs. The M.U.L.E. will be twice the size of Jhorka and is also suitable for our Space Dwarf miniatures. We also have another Pelegian, like Jhorka, but this time as a sniper ready to take down your foes from a distance and a Porcupine-like race called the Pai-Paio. So if your interested, go and have a look and help to support the project over on the Kickstarter project page.
- … and that’s a wrap! (10/20/2017)
The last two parcels have been packed, and we are officially done with this campaign.
There are a couple of pledges that hadn’t fulfilled their survey and paid for their Postage and Packaging. Those that are a part of that group will have to contact me directly to sort out the delivery of their rewards.
Its been a long road to get to this point, but finally we have got here and its not without the patience and support of you guys. There were some quite major delays, but you should all have, or have soon, your rewards in your hands.
The campaign has enabled us to get some very cool things out to you guys and there is still more to come. While the delays held back the fulfilment of the pledges we were still busy in the background sculpting future miniatures and planning our world domination. By that we mean we’ve been working on our Skirmish game.
Last weekend we were at Blast-Tastic in Bristol where we demoed the game and had a great group get involved. We’ve had some feedback and are further developing the game with a small group of play-testers. We will be looking for some more as we go forward, so if you’re interested get in contact with us. You can also sign up to the newsletter over at http://www.dweorg.com to be kept in the loop as to when we will be looking for testers.
Right… for now, that is it from me. Our website will be down for the next week while some much needed maintenance is done and we make some changes. We’ll let you know when it’s all back up and running.
Thanks again for your support guys, and catch you all soon.
- All the metal is in and counted! (10/12/2017)
That’s right, we have all of the metal for the campaign.
So, what does this mean? This week, since receiving the last lot of casting, has been solidly sorting and bagging thousands of units of teeny tiny pieces of metal. Our fingers have been blackened and we have literally had dreams about miscounting the stock. This also means that tomorrow we will be starting to box up pledges ready to be shipped out to you guys.
This has been a long time coming, a lot longer than we had initially anticipated. We would like to thank you all for your patience and hope that when you get your pledge rewards you’ll not be disappointed. This has been a learning curve for us and next time we know what needs to be done to make sure that it doesn’t take this long, again.
So… what else has been happening? Well, last weekend we were at a small show in Bristol called Blast-Tastic where we were previewing our Skirmish game.
It was a lot of fun and we met some fantastic people. The game had its first real run through, and though there were a couple of questions raised everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We are currently looking for some play-testers for the game to help us iron out those kinks and give us feedback. If you are interested then please send us a private message either here, on our website, or over on our Facebook page. You can find the links at the bottom of the update.
We are really looking forward to getting the rules for the game finished and yes, there will be rules for the mech-armoured Elsor-Varo in the rule book so you can use your miniatures from the campaign.
Once again, thank you everyone for being so patient with us and for supporting our campaign. Don’t forget to go and join the Kickstarter Backers closed group over on Facebook if you haven’t done so already. We try to update it as much as possible and it’s one of the first places to find out what’s upcoming from our workbench.
Catch you all in the next update.
You can follow our story on the social network services below:
- July 29th 2017, update (7/29/2017)
It’s been a while since our last update, but we’ve been busy. The last pieces are currently with the Metal caster and we are waiting for further news on their progress. We will update you with any further information as soon as we have it. For now though, John has put together this little update video for you all.
We have also re-opened up the survey page for those of you that are yet to pay your postage and packaging. Don’t forget that if you don’t pay for it we can’t send your stuff out to you. We will be contacting those who are yet to pay next week. You can also add more items to your rewards if you have already paid for your postage and packaging.
You can reach the survey page at: www.elsor-varo.com
If you have any queries don’t hesitate to get in touch. See you all in the next update!

- Update and fulfilment news (5/22/2017)
It’s that random time again of our irregular, regular updates. We’ve been busy getting everything moving forward here and as those of you who have been following us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook will have seen we have been making big steps towards our end goal and getting all the sculpts finished.
For those of you who haven’t here are some of the recent developments.
Heavy Battle robot
The 3D files have been completed and are now with the printer. As you can see in the picture the Elsor-Varo Heavy Battle Robot stands taller than the standard Battle Robot and has a new style of arm. The only two things left to do on the miniature is the shoulder mounted launcher and the left hand battle shield, which we are waiting for the actual arm to be printed out before we make it as It is going to be traditionally sculpted, not CG. The set will contain over 20 components for the Kickstarter as there are two different sets of feet that will come with it. We will release a full list of components in the coming weeks.
Mechanical Upgrade set
The Mechanical upgrade set has been complete. The master model components for metal casting are with our caster ready to go and the resin components are in their mould box curing.
We have added a second body into the set with the rear section missing so you can have a choice of either the modified mech version or the standard version with your mechanical arm backpack. There is also a plate in there to attach to the back of either body which basically, with the two heads and two different arms, gives you two miniatures for the price of one upgrade set if you wanted to or share the upgrades amongst your entire force.
Void Hound and Thief
The Void Hound has been started and we will have some pictures of that coming your way soon, so keep an eye out on our social media pages for updates on that.
The Void Thief has been completely re-sculpted. I wasn’t happy with the pose she had and as I didn’t feel that the picture was dynamic enough for the type of character she was supposed to be, so started from scratch.
She now has more of a dynamic pose that gives more of a feel of what a Void Thief is all about. More pictures of her will be coming your way soon, too. The hands holding the weapons will be sculpted separate to the model so you can kit her out with whatever you want, but she will have the pistol and sonic dagger weapon load out as standard.
The resin casting is going to be going on hold for the next few weeks. It’s usually around this time of year (my birthday) that I take my annual holiday, but this year I am only taking a part holiday. What I mean is I will still be sculpting bits for the Kickstarter, but I will also be taking some time out from the general running of the business (orders from the online store, admin, logistics, etc). This leads me to my next topic I wanted to talk about…
Yes, I’m sorry to say there are a few delays with the printing and casting of the Robot parts and the metal components. Our caster is a bit swamped at the moment, but we have spoken with them and they are saying that they should be able to have all the work done by mid to late June. Unfortunately these things do happen, but we’re on it and will let you guys know if there are any changes to this time frame.
This is a reminder for those that have missed the survey to get in touch with us so that we can sort out your postage and packaging for your Kickstarter items and any add-ons you wish to include in your rewards. If you don’t contact us we can’t send out your items, and we want you to get your rewards for supporting this project.
I’d like to say thank you again to all of you who have supported us and kept the dialog going outside of the Kickstarter via the social media sites. I would also like to invite you to join us in our Kickstarter backer and supporters group over on Facebook. THE DWEORG – Kickstarter backer and supporters group where you can get more updates about the current project status and get behind the scenes information and updates as we continue to evolve the Dweorg and their universe. It’s only for backers and supporters so let us know that you’ve backed us when you request to join.
Cheers guys, and I’ll catch you all in the next update.
- Pledge Surveys and castings (5/11/2017)
Just a quick reminder that the survey manager site will be taken offline, tomorrow evening. You have until midnight on the 12th of May 2017 to select your pledge rewards and pay for any add-ons you would like. Your rewards will not be sent out to you unless the postage and packaging has been paid for. If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate in contacting us directly through Kickstarter, our website or our Facebook page.
In other news the first master components for metal casting went out to the caster yesterday and should be with them today. The package includes:
- Alekas weapons
- The infested Elsor-Varos head
- Cassius weapons and arms
- The mechanical upgrades
- The bear rider
- Sergeant components
- Select components from the core set
As soon as we get these back from the caster we will share pictures with you. It’s all starting to come together as physical sets, which is quite exciting for us.
For now though, that is it. Please don’t forget to get your pledge surveys completed before the end of tomorrow (12th May 2017) so that we can make sure we are getting enough cast to cover our Kickstarter rewards.
- May update and Survey reminder (5/2/2017)
So it’s about time that you all had a bit of an update. First things first though, i need to remind those that are still to fulfil their pledge manager to do so.
I have been keeping it open at the request of some of you needing more time for various reasons, but i can not keep it open for too much longer. So with that in mind i need to let you know that the pledge manager will be closing on the 12th of May. That is the last date i can leave it to as i need to know numbers for any extra add-ons you guys my want. This also means that if any of you who have already fulfilled your pledge manager wish to add some extras, now is your last chance. Any postage will be combined on additional add-ons
Now, on to the update. So, i have some photos for you lets start with the Commander upgrade set.
Next, on to the Void Thief. I haven’t been happy with what i’ve been doing with the Void Thief miniature so i have scrapped the current pose and will be starting from scratch. I was finding her too static and didn’t embody the essence of the character. I am going to be starting a new armature today with a new pose so i will update again later on in the week with her progress.
Now, on to the heavy battle robot. This is the one i’ve been looking forward to getting my teeth into. This guy is a mix of traditional sculpting/model making and 3D modelling.
As you can see the body is traditional sculpting/model making but there are some components that we are waiting on.
As soon as they arrive they will be going straight into a mould for the resin versions to be cast up ready for modification and additional work.
The next part that will be being worked on this week are the legs. I will post some pictures up along with the Void Thief later on in the week. This leaves on the Void Hound and the Breacher set left to do once these are finished. I will not be starting those until i have these done.
I am looking to get the first lot of metal casting off to our caster by the end of the week, so things are starting to move ever so closer towards fulfilment. If you guys have any questions please get in touch and i will answer them as soon as i can.
Thank you to all of you for being patient with the space between updates and i will catch you all in an update later on this week.
- Mid April update (4/16/2017)
So, things are still progressing bit by bit here. A little slower than i had anticipated due to other commitments, but it’s still moving forward. Not much to show you until i have the mechanical upgrade kit, bare head sprue and hunter cast up. This will hopefully be just after Salute (we aren’t going to be having a stall there, but will be there as pedestrians) so i will post updates around about the 26th. We are still on target for the end of May to have the miniatures ready to be dispatched, but i hadn’t taken into consideration that Salute would impact getting casts done. My own silly shortsightedness. But hopefully it won’t impact too much.
On the up side, we have received the painted versions of the core set and Exclusive miniature. So here you go guys…
The core set miniatures in these photographs were all put together with components that come in the set and are based on the ‘Wytchfire Studio’ 32mm City Battle bases.
Hope these are enough to wet your appetite for now, guys.
- The Barakum Bar, first master casts (4/6/2017)
As promise i am here to deliver the pictures of the first master casts from the campaign. There are only three done so far, but more are on their way to the mould making table.
First up we have the Corsypti Colony. The body will be cast in Polyurethane resin, and the head will be cast in white metal.
Next up, we have the Elsor-Varo trooper in light armour. As it stands at the moment it is planned that he will be cast in resin, except for his sword and scabbard. However, i may make the miniature a full metal miniature due to the thin nature of the weapon hand. Some testing needs to be done before i decide which way to go though.
Last, but by no means least, we have the Aleka miniature cast up and ready to go. This was one that i was personally looking forward to as it was a fun model to make.
Its been good to see some of the miniatures take shape as an actual model, not just the original sculpt. It kind of makes it a bit more ‘real’ for me. It’s a sense that things are moving forward, i guess you could say.
So, tomorrow the Hunter, Honour Guard heads and the Mechanical Upgrade set get put into boxes ready for silicone to be added. I will also continue casting the bits to go to the casters.
For now, that’s it guys. I will try and keep the updates more regular.
- The Barakum Bar, Updates (4/6/2017)
There’s a new update video doing its rounds, and here it is for you guys. There will be some update photos later on this evening to go with what i talk about in this video, but for now i hope you enjoy some insight into the processes that i go through to create the miniatures.
Hope you all enjoy the video, guys… Now, i’m off to the workshop to cast up the new castings so i can show you guys later!
